Jeronymus van Diest

(1631, The Hague - ca.1687, The Hague), was a Dutch Golden Age seascape painter. According to Houbraken, a Jeronymus van Diest was good with grisailles and was the teacher of Adriaen van de Venne.[1] This grisaille painter Jeronymus Diest (I) may possibly have been a grandfather of the younger Jeronymus Diest (II); since they are both from the Hague. According to the RKD this younger Jeronymus Diest (II) was the son of the painter Willem van Diest and the father of the painter Adriaen van Diest who was a follower of Jan van Goyen and Hendrik Dubbels. His known works are all seascapes with various ships at sail.  Related Paintings of Jeronymus van Diest :. | The London Mail leaving The Three Crowns (mk37) | portratt joseph pembauer | Moses Saved from the Waters of the Nile | Madonna of the Goldfinch | Portrait of Prince Alexander Charles Vasa. |

Pietro Antonio Rotari
Italian painter , (b. 1707, Verona, d. 1762, St. Petersburg) Italian painter. His artistic career began as a youthful distraction, but his talent quickly became apparent, and he entered the studio of Antonio Balestra in Verona, remaining there until he was 18. He spent the years 1725-7 in Venice and then moved c. 1728 to Rome, where he stayed for four years as a student of Francesco Trevisani. Between 1731 and 1734 he studied with Francesco Solimena in Naples before returning to Verona, where he set up his own studio and school. His most notable early independent works are multi-figured altarpieces (e.g. the Four Martyrs, 1745; Verona, church of the Ospedale di S Giacomo), which emulate 17th-century Roman and Neapolitan works. However, he also studied the smaller, more intimate paintings of Roman Baroque artists, and these influenced his later works. He fell victim to the wanderlust that appears to have been endemic to 18th-century Venetian painters, and c. 1751 he travelled to Vienna, where he was able to study works by Jean-Etienne Liotard, whose clean pictorial smoothness impressed him. He later moved to Dresden
Kristian Zahrtmann
(31 March 1843 - 22 June 1917) was a Danish painter. He was a part of the Danish artistic generation in the late 19th century, along with Peder Severin Krøyer and Theodor Esbern Philipsen, who broke away from both the strictures of traditional Academicism and the heritage of the Golden Age of Danish Painting, in favor of naturalism and realism. He was known especially for his history paintings, and especially those depicting strong, tragic, legendary women in Danish history. He also produced works of many other genres including landscapes, street scenes, folk scenes and portraits. He had a far-reaching effect on the development of Danish art through his effective support of individual style among his students during the many years he taught, and by his pioneering use of color.
